TrendlineTrader EA: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I name my trendlines? +

The EA watches one buy line and one sell line, matched by exact name. By default name them buy and sell (double-click the line, then Properties → Name). You can change the names in the Buy trendline name and Sell trendline name inputs. The name must match exactly, including capitals.

The panel says NOT FOUND. +

There is no trendline on this chart with that exact name. Check the line name, and that the EA is attached to the same chart as the line.

When does it enter? +

Set by Entry trigger mode: Entry_Touch fires when price comes within the touch tolerance of the line, Entry_CrossPrice when price crosses it, and Entry_BarClose when a bar closes beyond it. The mode applies to both lines.

A line shows TRIGGERED and will not trade again. +

Each line takes up to Max trades before re-arm entries. Move or redraw the line and the EA re-arms it automatically. Changing the chart timeframe does not re-arm it.

Partial closes or break even did not happen. +

The panel shows the next level and the last action. A partial that would be smaller than your broker's minimum lot is skipped and noted; it never closes the whole trade instead. R-based levels are measured from the original stop, so they still work after the stop has moved to break even.

Can I use it on several charts? +

Yes. Attach it to each chart; each copy watches the buy and sell lines on its own chart. Give each copy a different magic number if you run it twice on the same symbol.
